Black Box teater's Topical Program

A warm welcome to Open up! – a wide range of talks, debates and workshops that run alongside our artistic program and offer different perspectives on the program. Through experiencing a variety of voices, we invite you to expand and deepen your understanding of what performing arts might be.

All the events have free entrance.


21 August, 14.30, the KIF cabin at Kolsås
The mountain in motion: conversation after the performance The Mountain Body. With Katrine Eldegard, professor in natural resource management, and Henrik Svensen, geologist.

27 August, 20.30, Foyer
We celebrate the season opening! After the performance gone here (yet) to come we invite you all to the season presentation and celebration with DJ Ingebling.

29 August, 12.00–18.00, Foajé, Lille scene
Open house! We open the house to our neighbors, audience and everyone else who is curious, and offer free activities for both children and adults.

Dance workshop for kids 6–10 years (and adults!) with dancer Ingrid Haakstad from the performance gone here (yet) to come. What can dance? Bring an item from home and we'll figure it out together! It can be anything - a box, a fruit or something completely different! Feel free to participate as a group or with the whole family.

29 August 14.00–15.30, Lille scene
The body as landscape: Workshop with Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki from the performance gone here (yet) to come. How can our bodies become one with their surroundings? No dancing skills is needed to join the workshop, so put on clothes that are easy to move around in and join!

Conversation about 100 Cymbals in partnership with Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival

Admission is included in the ticket to the performance Čázevulošnieida - Underwater Girl Children's weekend with drawing and yoike workshop and other fun children's activities related to the show!

4 October, 18.00-20.30, Deichman Tøyen
Ved sida av deg – hvordan lager vi fellesskap? (Next to you - how do we build community?)
Seminar on creating community in a polarized society. Including Yohan Shanmugaratnam, Bjørn Hatterud and Frida Ånnevik. There will be music, readings, coffee and cakes.
Organized together with Deichman Tøyen and Goetheintstituttet.

Book launch of Black Box teater Publication 7 with texts by Grace Tabea Tenga, Eirik Willyson, Edy Poppy, Nan van Houte and Kaeto Keto. Snacks, bubbles and readings.

Aftertalk with Ann-Christin Kongsness and Marte Reithaug Sterud after the performance Butch Tribute. Moderator is Louis Schou-Hansen. In cooperation with Karmaklubb* at Wünderkammer — Queer Art Festival 2021.

Aftertalk after the performance L'Étang with Gisèle Vienne, Adèle Haenel and Ruth Vega Fernandez.

Film screening and conversation / Artist’s choice: Maritea Dæhlin*
Film screening of The Butterfly's Utopia (2019) and Bronx Gothic (2017) chosen by the artist Maritea Dæhlin. After the screening, everyone is invited to an informal chat about the films in the café.

Black Box teater
Se/Snakk (See/Talk) is a viewer club for you who want to see more theater and dance, but experience that the threshold is too high. Together - in a small group of eight - we see three performances at Black Box teater and talk about what we have seen.

*All events have free access except from the workshops after Čázevulošnieida – the Underwater Girl and film screenings at Vega Kino.
