”At a time when gatherings have become inherently politicised, when public spaces are under threat and when difference is being erased, teetering on the edge between crowd and group, between commune and gathering, feels essential, especially through a poetics of the body.” – Exeunt Magazine

Shadows of Tomorrow is a reworking of the Fiksdal production BAND from 2013. In this production she wantsto re-create the immersive experience of a psychedelic concert, but only through the movement of bodies and light; there is no music to be heard. Originally a poem by the pioneer of Afrofuturism, Sun Ra, Shadows of Tomorrow lends its title to a track on the Madvillain album Madvillainy by Madlib and MF Doom, key figures within the genre of psychedelic hip-hop. Drawing on this genre, with multiple beats that move through and between the bodies in space, the light design acts as an intensifier of the experience and creates additional movement and rhythm. A mesmerizing experience.

Seminar: Thinking Alongside
10. november kl. 13.00. Foajé
As research fellow, Ingri Midgard Fiksdal has advocated making space for theoretical reflection and knowledge production as an influence for choreographic practice. Perception and affect are central to her work both theoretically and artistically, while ritual is a fruitful entry point to explore its capacity for transformation with the audience. During the performance run, the foyer will be a space for sharing different aspects of Fiksdal’s artistic research. New publications addressing her work and theoretical interests will be launched, and there will be a series of talks with Fiksdal and invited guests. Read more about the seminar here
