Ways of Seeing was to become the most discussed play of the post-war period in Norway. The performance is a journey into the infrastructure of Norwegian racism. Two women with backgrounds from Iraqi Kurdistan and Algeria wander through Prosperous Norway to understand the role that parts of the country's economic and political elite play in the emergence of the new extreme right.

How could a performance created by a small group of experimental artists trigger the departure of a justice minister, reprimande from the prime minister and accusations from top politicians meant the artists inspired to terrorism?

Finally, there is a new opportunity to experience this historical work when Ways of Seeing is presented again at Black Box teater.

The artists behind Ways of Seeing are Pia Maria Roll, Sara Baban and Hanan Benammar. Sara Baban is a Kurdish-Iraqi / Norwegian performing artist who has worked in various productions at institutions and in the free field. Pia Maria Roll is a Norwegian theater director with a background also as an actress and screenwriter. Hanan Benammar is an Algerian / French artist who works conceptually with geopolitical, environmental and social issues.

+ 21 August, the book Jeg skulle si storm – boka om Ways of Seeing will be launched in the foyer at Black Box teater.
