Solo for gaten

17. september–8. oktober 2011

With this work Rasmus Jørgensen takes his art to the streets and investigates through self parody our wish to be seen. Our wish that someone will need what we have to offer.

In his solo works Jørgensen has developed a very physical, musically detailed performance style where everyday objects and simple stories are transformed into the poetic and complex. In this piece he juxtaposes the energetic, entertaining with the odd, experimental, and plays with ambiguities of pause/performance, act/reality and artistic reach out/sell out. He attempts to capture the passerby in the moment while also developing something rich and intricate over time for the really patient.

After completing his music and performance art studies at Mills College in Oakland in 2003, Jørgensen has worked as a member of Ning and other theater and music ensembles. He has made several solo works, such as “Jeg & Joe” (2010) and “Mannen som tok feil” (2009), both co-produced by Black Box Teater.
