«Londinium» is a play in three parts about what becomes of the heroes after tragedy strikes. We encounter the shadows of heroes, people who have already lost and are stuck in their loss.
Like archeologists they excavate souls. They are searching for an explanation for their own destruction: in their sexualized ruins, in the history of the Thames, and in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. But without other tools than words, they continue to get lost in the labyrinths of language. They lose, over and over again.
«Londinium» is an homage to London, to T.S. Eliot’s ”The Waste Land”, and to the Thames, flushing the mud of the big city in and out with the tide. The play is written by the young author Demian Vitanza, who in 2011 received critical acclaim for his debut novel ”URAK”. «Londonium»is his first play, produced by Sandsund/Lie in Dale, Sunnfjord in Norway.
