I DIE AS A COUNTRY Morro Como Pais

“I'm Dying Like a Country” (1978), a text by Greek contemporary playwright Dimítris Dimitriádis, speaks of death in a territory devastated by civil war, political corruption and by the subversion of morality, a tragic figuration in a kind of mash-up of all perversions and subversions.

Actor and Director John Romao has a BA in Theatre. His formation includes the contact with the artists Jan Fabre, Romeo Castellucci, Wim Vandekeybus, Mónica Calle and João Fiadeiro, between others. In theatre, he worked with Paulo Castro, Jorge Silva Melo, Jorge Andrade, Fracisco Salgado, Rodrigo García, Maria João Machado, Marcos Barbosa, Jean-Paul Bucchieri and Harvey Grossman. He is assistant director of Rodrigo García (ES). In cinema he worked with João Pedro Vale & Nuno Alexandre Ferreira, João Pedro Rodrigues, Sérgio Brás D'Almeida and Manoel de Oliveira. He has directed since 2001: «Horror» (Lisbon National Theatre), «I die as a country», «Only idiots wanna be radical», «High Speed» among many others.
