Du er Knut

26.–28. august 2011

«Du er Knut» (You are Knut) begins where the most peculiar case in Norwegian court-history ends: Police inspector Knut Rød, responsible for he deportation of jews from Oslo and Akershus in 1942, is charged in court after the war. But he is aquitted, and the case is hushed up.

SInce then we have told and retold countless stories about the heros and villains of the War. Asklepios Hane, (Asclepius’ Rooster) on the other hand, have gone through the court-documents from the case against Knut Rød. And they are no longer certain that they believe the stories. About the heros and villains. If they even exist.

Asclepius was the god of Medicine and healing, he wanted to save the humans from the realm of the dead. When Socrates was sentenced to death for having posed the Atenians questions that were too challenging and confrontational, his last words were : “Criton, we owe Asklepios a rooster”

This group of actors called Asklepios Hane came together when they were studying acting at the Academy in Oslo, as a result of 5 actors’ wish to work together to challenge, develop and create dialogue. They are joined by writer and director Øystein Stene, and they have together created the performance “Du er Knut”
